Thanks for your comments, Jeff. I have tried this method once since writing this blog post, and it went fairly well. I do think it saved me time. Too much to share in the comments here; I think I'll write up another blog post on my experience.

I can definitely appreciate your point of view, especially in regards to fixed vs. flexible. I think static, centered designs have a place in this world in some cases, but would love to see a greater use of the full browser window across the multitude of mediums available.

Alternatively, it's hard for some designers (especially one man band freelancers) in a standard 3 custom comp delivery, to justify building out 2 full designs that will ultimately be scrapped. Unless I was delivering an end-all-be-all design to the client, it would be faster to mock up screenshots of the design in a browser window and maybe even an iphone.

In finishing up this post, I notice now that you wrote this almost a year ago. Have you since trialed this method? How did it work for you?

Hi Zoe.

I'm REALLY looking forward to getting my hands on Flexible Web Design. I've asked New Riders for a copy in December and I'll be writing a review as soon as.

Kind regards
